We Power Tech is about you: diverse builders who are changing the world through tech. Together, we are building a future of tech that is diverse, inclusive, and accessible. Our goal is to increase the number of underrepresented technologists participating in the innovation economy through content, partnerships, and programs, ensuring a pipeline of tech talent that is as diverse as our world. Join We Power Tech during re:Invent to learn more about innovation at the intersection of inclusion, diversity, and equity.
Because re:Invent 2020 is a free and virtual event, this year’s application is for a re:Invent 2021 We Power Tech Grant. We Power Tech Grant applications for re:Invent 2021 will open Thursday, October 15, at 10:00AM PST and will close on Tuesday, November 3, at 5:00PM PST.
One way AWS supports a future of tech that is diverse, inclusive, and accessible is through our We Power Tech Grant, which is geared toward underrepresented technologists in the first five years of their careers.
The re:Invent 2021 We Power Tech Grant program includes your registration; your airfare to Las Vegas, Nevada; and hotel accommodations for you during re:Invent 2021. Recipients will have access to four days of re:Invent 2021 content and activities as well as a We Power Tech Grant welcome orientation, reserved seating in the keynotes, We Power Tech meetups, We Power Tech Grant closing remarks with AWS leadership, and much more!
But the fun for We Power Tech Grant recipients will kick off prior to re:Invent 2021, starting with the announcement of the re:Invent 2021 We Power Tech Grant recipients at re:Invent 2020. As a recipient, you will have a chance to engage with fellow recipients, Project Alloy, and AWS throughout the three-week event. This will lead into a year-long program filled with curated educational and networking opportunities leading up to re:Invent 2021.
We recruit a selection committee of 4–5 people each year. The committee includes AWS leadership, a board member of Project Alloy, previous grantees, and conference hosts or speakers. All members of the selection committee have backgrounds that are underrepresented in the tech industry. The selection committee will only see information included in Section 2 of the application (Section 1 includes logistical information and is not considered in the decision-making). Before we present your application to the committee, we remove all identifying pronouns, links, organizations, etc.
