Sustainability

Check out highlights from our 2018 collaboration with MGM Resorts International

AWS has multiple sustainability initiatives for re:Invent, including food donations, compostable grab and go meal options, and donation or recycling options for conference materials. We are also providing reusable water bottles and working with Cupanion’s Fill it Forward program to support charity: water. AWS is committed to delivering a great customer experience at re:Invent while reducing our environmental impact and supporting programs that benefit local communities.

How you can get involved

  • Reduce waste from single-use cups and bottles and help fund clean water projects by participating in our Hydrate & Help program. Download the Fill it Forward app, attach the provided tag to your bottle, and scan the tag each time you refill your reusable bottle at water stations across the re:Invent campus. For more information, visit Give Back.
  • Our meal programs are designed to reduce the amount of waste that is sent to landfills. Join in by disposing of your compostable and recyclable meal items in the proper containers. Have questions on what goes where? Ask our re:Invent ambassadors.
  • Three Square Food Bank’s BackPack for Kids program provides bags of nutritious, single-serving, ready-to-eat food items each Friday to children who might otherwise go without during weekends and long breaks from school. Join us and help create backpacks to support childhood nutrition. AWS will also donate unserved food from re:Invent meals and snacks to Three Square Food Bank and other local nonprofits.
  • Donate swag that won’t fit in your luggage. Donation bins will be placed near transportation locations on the re:Invent campus. Simply place your swag in these bins, and it will be donated to nonprofit organizations that serve local communities.
  • Take the re:Invent shuttles or follow the walking paths between re:Invent venues rather than driving, taking a cab, or using a rideshare program.
